NCSA partners with Gogolook to strengthen proactive protection against scam calls with Whoscall.
NCSA finds 1,800 suspicious websites, more than half of which are fake or have been hacked

The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gogolook, the leading TrustTech provider and developer of the Whoscall application. The agreement will see the organizations collaborate to boost cyber security measures and reinforce the fight against online fraudsters and prevent Thais becoming victims of scams. The agreement was signed at the Confidential meeting room on the 7thth floor of the Office of the National Cyber Security Commission.

Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, secretary-general of the National Cyber Security Agency, said, “Working with the Security Coordination Center and the Thailand Computer Emergency Response Team (ThaiCERT) the NCSA monitors cyber threats and warns of cyber incidents. Our collated agency data found 1,800 suspect websites during 2023, of which 1,056 sites were hacked, along with 310 fake websites and 111 scam sites, all aiming to mislead and cheat people. Finding a solution to this ongoing problem is a priority for the NCSA and we are following Proactive Protection guidelines to prevent cyber threats and support our goal of having effective cyber security that provides online protection for everyone. An example of this is Whoscall, an application developed by Gogolook that is widely used in many countries. NCSA is encouraging Thai people to use Whoscall, which operates within Thailand PDPA conditions, as users can set privacy permission to reduce concerns about personal information being leaked and shared publicly. Gogolook Thailand is keen to ensure this fully complies with Thailand’s PDPA laws. The signing of this memorandum of understanding shows that we will be able to cooperate to achieve our goals and accomplish our mission faster. The NCSA and Gogolook will work together to upgrade skills and strengthen our knowledge about new technology and includes training projects designed to promote knowledge sharing. This will increase our ability to combat online crimes and promote a safe environment for Thai society and protect people from losses.”
