HOM NGUYEN: THE ARTIST OF THE INVISIBLE

Born in Paris to Vietnamese parents, the artist, Hom Nguyen is self-taught, intuitive, and fiercely committed to emotional truth. Known for his monumental portraits made of frenetic lines, layered textures, and expressive force, he navigates the border between figuration and abstraction to depict what lies beneath the surface. Using charcoal, ink, oil, and pastel, he scratches, builds, and reveals the soul of his subjects through what he calls “portraits of the invisible”.

Whether painting anonymous faces or historical figures, Hom Nguyen does not simply reproduce physical likeness—he transmits presence, emotion, struggle, and dignity. His work often engages with themes of identity, heritage, memory, and filial ties, drawn from his own personal story, yet expanded into universal reflection. His expressive strokes echo inner storms, and his compositions challenge the viewer to look beyond aesthetics—to truly feel. With works exhibited in institutions, art fairs, and museums worldwide, and featured in prominent private collections, Hom Nguyen is today one of the most distinctive and humanistic voices in contemporary French art.

A NEW CHAPTER: THE GAZE AS LANGUAGE

With MĀEYE, Hom Nguyen ventures into a new aesthetic and emotional territory. For the first time, he steps away from depicting entire faces to focus on a single, intimate, and universal motif, the gaze.

In this series, eues are no longer just facial features—they are mirrors of the soul, carriers of intergenerational emotions, and silent storytellers. The exhibition explores the profound bond between mother and child, rendered in eyes filled with trust, tenderness, and unspoken love.

These are not portraits of individuals; they are portraits of relationships, of connection, of what passes in silence from one generation to the next. Through these close-up visions, Hom Nguyen composes a visual dialogue about care, loss, transmission, and protection.

A FEMININE ENERGY ROOTED IN THAI CULTURE

The artist’s reflection on « motherhood » and femininity finds a natural resonance in Thailand, where feminine energy is omnipresent—in beliefs, rituals, and everyday gestures. In a culture that honours motherhood, empathy, and the spiritual power of women, Hom Nguyen’s work takes on added depth and symbolic weight. For Hom Nguyen, whose heritage is Southeast Asian, Thailand is not just an exhibition setting—it is a landscape of memory and identity. This cultural proximity strengthens the emotional charge of the project and offers viewers a unique opportunity to experience his work through a local, spiritual lens.

THREE VENUES – THREE PERSPECTIVES

At Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, visitors will discover a collection that embodies the emotional ties between mothers and children. These pieces capture moments of silent understanding, of unconditional love, of gazes that speak louder than words. It’s a visual tribute to the often invisible, yet foundational, forces that shape us. Whereas, at Anantara Golden Triangle, located in one of the country’s most renowned elephant sanctuaries, the theme evolves. There, Hom Nguyen turns his gaze toward the elephants themselves—emblems of memory, protection, and spiritual wisdom. Moved by their strength and fragility, he paints them with reverence and intimacy. In their eyes, too, lies a story: of endurance, of coexistence, and of the sacred bond between human and animal

“MĀEYE” : A SYMBOLIC WORK AND A VISION MADE POSSIBLE BY MOZART ADVISORY

This ambitious and emotionally resonant project could not have seen the light of day without the involvement of MozArt Advisory. The company has been instrumental in producing and coordinating this multi-site exhibition, and in allowing Hom Nguyen’s work to enter into dialogue with the Thai cultural and natural landscape.

MozArt Advisory’s commitment to meaningful cross-cultural collaborations, to the power of art as a connector, and to the elevation of artists with singular voices is at the very heart of this initiative. Without them, this exhibition—so deeply anchored in emotion, geography, and symbolism—could not have materialized.
